A group of mid-sized, private equity owned operating companies ($100-$500m revenue) lacked specialist resources to manage their complex, international footprint. The group was spending ~$50m on gas and power but only a portion was being actively managed or competitively bid. The PE fund believed there was an opportunity to improve procurement but the fund and the operating companies lacked energy procurement and efficiency expertise.
Poder Consulting performed a quick hit, size of the prize assessment of the opportunity based on current spend, locations and market experience on geographies with an opportunity to save. In addition, facility data was reviewed at a high level to identify the top candidates for energy efficiency and demand response program participation. A veteran leader in the energy business worked with the portfolio companies to understand their efforts to date and shared options for improvement.
